The Vanguard Initiative is a research organization studying how identity shapes markets. This policy explains how we handle data collected through our surveys and website.
What We Collect
When you participate in our surveys, we may collect:
- Survey responses: Your answers to our research questions
- Contact information (optional): Instagram handle or email, only if you choose to provide it for beta access notifications
- Basic metadata: Our survey platform (Tally.so) may collect browser type, country, and device type for functionality purposes
We do not sell your data or share it with third parties. Our website may use basic analytics to understand traffic patterns, but this data is not linked to your survey responses.
How We Use Your Data
- Survey responses: Analyzed in aggregate to identify trends and insights. Individual responses are never sold or shared with identifiable information attached.
- Contact information: Used only to notify you about beta access or research updates you've opted into. Never sold or shared.
- Aggregate insights: May be published in reports or shared with industry partners to improve platforms for creators. These insights contain no personally identifiable information.
Who We Share With
We use the following service providers to operate:
- Tally.so: Survey platform (processes your responses)
- Netlify: Website hosting
- Google Workspace: Email communications
We do not sell individual data to third parties. Aggregate, anonymized findings may be shared commercially, but these never include information that could identify you.
How Long We Keep Data
Survey responses are retained for the duration of our research projects, typically up to 2 years. Contact information is retained until you request removal or until we complete beta outreach, whichever comes first.
Your Rights
You may request to:
- Know what data we have about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your data from our records

Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. Significant changes will be noted on our website. Continued participation in our research after changes constitutes acceptance.
